Manneken Pis statue
The famous peeing boy.
This little boy has been urinating in the middle of a busy pedestrian street in Brussels since as far back as the 17th century…
Little did Jérôme Duquesnoy know that his bronze sculpture, also known as "Petit Julien" would go on to become one of the emblematic monuments of the city.
As one can imagine, there was initial resistance to this idea when the sculpture first saw the light. A few dedicated souls fought strongly for the little boy, however, and today we can thank them for the Manneken Pis, a favourite among of visitors to Brussels.
Today, during the various feast days and celebrations, the Manneken Pis is dressed in various costumes, from Father Christmas to Dracula.
