Hôtel Hannon - Contretype Photographic Centre

A hotel in the service of photography.
Thehôtel Hannonwas constructed in 1903 by the architect Jules Brunfaut at the request of his friend Edouard Hannon, a photographer and engineer with the Solvaycompany. This hôtel de maître is one of the Art nouveaubuildings which line Brussels.
It has a monumental stairwell decorated with frescoes by the painter Paul-Albert Baudouinfrom Rouen and windows by Raphaël Evaldre. The furniture and the décor, now scattered in numerous museum collections, bore the stamp of the famous glassblower and cabinet-maker Emile Galléand Louis Majorelle. Listed in 1976 by the Monuments et Sites, the hotel has the photographic room , which apart from its mission of managing the photographic heritage left by Edouard Hannon, regularly presents exhibitions of contemporary photographs.
